![]() ![]() The brothers toured the country in a vaudeville show titled Fun in Hi Skule in 1911, Leonard joined the other three two years later, signaling the birth of the brothers as a comedy act. The act slowly evolved from singing with comedy to comedy with music. While the act kept changing in line-up, Julius, Adolph and Milton remained. In 1907, Julius and Milton were teamed by their mother with young singer Mabel O'Donnell as "The Three Nightingales" singing act Adolph was added a year later. Adolph followed Leonard's lead to play piano, but found himself was not talented and settled on playing harp instead. Julius started career in vaudeville as a singer in 1905 and travelled across the country. Leonard dropped out from school and started to play piano in saloons and brothels, mostly because he needed money for gambling and women. ![]() With their mother's support, all of the brothers got involved in the show business. They were raised in New York City by their immigrant Jewish parents, Frenchie and Minnie Marx, from Alsace, France. The first sibling, Manfred, was died in 1886 shortly after born. The Marx Brothers were consisted of Leonard (born 1887), Adolph (born 1888), Julius (born 1890), Milton (born 1893) and Herbert (born 1901).
